12.
We teach "water happiness" initially, not swimming strokes.

We use trained instructors to assist swimmers, not flotation aids.

We teach in the water - everyone at the same level.

Throughout the organisation we use first names, as we are all equal.

We teach slowly, at a pace appropriate for the swimmer. We encourage progression, but do not use pressure.

We teach in a logical order, ensuring that all pre-requisite steps have been mastered.

The emphasis is on ability, not disability.

The emphasis is on enjoyment, so most activities are put into a game.

We think positively - everyone a swimmer.

We work in groups, so swimmers encourage each other and new Instructors are helped by those with more experience.

The whole organisation is run on a voluntary basis. The officers, lecturers, club organisers are all volunteers.

Everyone is committed to extending the use of the Halliwick Method.

Helpers

1. The time they spend with the swimming club must be enjoyable.

2.

3.

Whatever they can give is appreciated and there is no pressure to do more.

Every one can contribute. The new helper might devise a game nobody has thought of before.
