Apart from the Clubs annual Golf classic in the K Club every May, we also have many social outings which sometimes also act as fundraisers for charities. In 1996, President Yvonne Malone held an Auction in the K Club which raised funds for the St. Vincent de Paul. In 1996 President Maura Carroll held a lunch for other Soroptimist Clubs and guests in aid of the Adi Roche Fund for Children of Chernobyl. In 1997 President Breda Smith held a Percy French Concert in the K Club in aid of the National Project 'Promotion of the Arts'. In 1998 President Aine Brady held a Concert in aid of the Northern Ireland Children's Enterprise and in 1999 President Kitty Manzor held a concert in Straffan Hall in aid of it's restoration. In 2000 the club held a party in member Dianne Coleman's house to fund the Carers and Meals on Wheels. We also have had outings to the Dail, Aras an Uactairain, Collins Barracks Museum and the National Gallery, Farmleigh, among others and we have a Christmas dinner every year.

Soroptimists raise funds again for Teach Tearmainn

Members of Soroptimists International North Kildare presented a cheque for 4,000 to Teach Tearmainn womens refuge group in Newbridge. This was the proceeds of a concert given by the Baldonnel Singers in Kilcullen Theatre on 19th May. We enjoyed a selction of melodies, from classical to popular and gospel music. This was followed by a wine reception and Raffle sponsored by Soroptimists Members. Last Summer oroptimists raised over 4,000 for Teach Tearmainn from a garden Party held in Straffan by one of their members. The fundraisers were held to assist Teach Tearmainn in continuing their work in providing a safe haven for women and children are are victims of domestic violence.

This was the proceeds of a Garden Party held by Patricia in her lovely garden in Straffan in Sept 2006 last, which was attended by members of Soroptimist International North Kildare, and Naas/ Newbridge and also Patricia's friends and neighbours to assist Teach Tearmainn provide Refuge for women and their children who are in need of a safe haven in Co. Kildare.
