One of the rarest forms of Shaker furniture, this wonderful double armchair was originally made in the South Family chair shop at Mt. Lebanon, N.Y toward the end of the 19th century. The scale of the piece is well suited for today's home, two adults are accommodated comfortably. The frame is rock maple throughout. Height of back 371/2". Height of seat 161/2". Width 431/4". MEETING HOUSE BENCH

The Shakers have always used light, portable benches in their meetinghouses and meeting rooms. This design, produced at Enfield, N.H community about 1840, is a Shaker refinement of the sturdy, time-tested Windsor style. All these years later, it remains crisp, contemporary, and yes comfortable. Perfect at home or in a professional environment. The seat is specially shaped of Eastern white pine for comfort. The back and legs are rock maple for strength. Height of back 311/4". Height of seat 17". Width 50". Depth 18".
