The Shaker Store Tea and Coffee Rooms The Shaker Store opened its doors in 1998, since then it has grown from strength to strength. Established by Michael Lawler an Industrial Designer with a love for history and furniture design. His family roots go back many generations in the Quaker Village of Ballitore, the only planed Quaker Village in Europe that has seen somewhat of a revival in the past decade. The restoration of the house once owned by the famous writer and Quaker Mary Leadbeater led Michael on a quest that was to take many years of research and travel. The quest to discover the interior and furniture design used in this old 17th century Quaker House. While traveling around New England to research Shaker Furniture Michael came across a company that made reproduction Shaker Furniture, taken by the quality and craftmanship of the furniture Michael made contact with the company Shaker Workshops(r) and a working relationship began importing the furniture in kit form into Ireland. The Shaker Store now based in Ballitore has on permanent show the largest selection of Shaker Furniture in Ireland. Uniquely situated 35 minutes from Dublin one can see the beauty and simplicity of Shaker design at its best a trip to the showrooms will be an memorable and enjoyable occasion.
