"The Hulk" is situated on the Dublin-Portlaoise road. It was once known as a Charter School.

No one seems to know why it was called "The Hulk". The school opened in 1762. The pupils in the school were taught the English Language, to read, and to learn about the Protestant Religion.

The living conditions in the Hulk were very bad for the children. Most of the children were aged between two and six years of age. There were 78 children in the school. The stairs and bedrooms were not clean. Many of the children died. After 70 years the Charter School was closed and the Hulk was given back to Lord Drogheda.
