On February 1st, 2020 all the classes gathered in the school hall for a lovely celebration of St. Brigid and the coming of Spring. The pupils from Senior Infants and Second Classes presented the Assembly. They sang a lovely song about St. Brigid and acted out the story of how she used her cloak to get land to build her monastery in Kildare. Ms. French demonstrated how to make a "Brigid's Cross" while recounting the story of Brigid when she made the cross for a dying chieftain. The cross of rushes, some holy water from St. Brigid's well, the Brat Bríde, some spring flowers and the prayer candle were all placed in the sacred space. The pupils displayed some spring pictures depicting signs of the new season, while singing the song, "Wake Up, Rise and Shine".
