The wind in the willow
There's
green in the trees
The
wind blows through me
Just
like a breeze
2
As I stand in a open field
With the wind
on my mind
As it blows
strongly through
The
tree helps me feel
Gratefully at ease
3
For the children will play
And children
will say
We
can see the wind in the willow
Mammy
and daddy let all
Kneel down and
lets us pray.
Martin.

Jokes
and Gags
A
man said to another man, who was sitting on a tree, "What are
you doing up there?". The man replied, "I'm working for the special
branch".
I asked my girlfriend, the other day, to slip into something cool.
A few minutes later I found her in the fridge!!!

Admin
Unit
Accreditation
We are very busy in the admin unit at the moment
with paperwork everywhere. The
reason for all this is that we are working towards our accreditation
visit next Feb. when
we will be visited by members of the ICCD. There are plenty of things
to be done in order to prepare for this important milestone in our
formation, and we wish to make a good impression.
The
website
Our website went live before Christmas and so far
there's been no problems. The feedback we've gotten to date has
all been good, with people saying that it is a very colourful and
informative site.

Employment
Unit
January
2002 has arrived and we are all back at it after our Christmas break.
All members had a good holiday and they have all settled back into
their jobs and are doing well.
Breda and Des have done a site visit to everyone and all employers
are happy. Des and Breda are also sourcing jobs for some prospective
members who have a desire to work, they hope that by the end of
the month they will have two jobs to roll. Training in Genesis Clubhouse,
America On the 25th of November at about 6.45am I walked into Dublin
airport about to go on the trip of a life time to the U.S.A.
Looking
around me I wondered how many of the people I could see were traveling
to the same destination. My travelling companion, Tom joined me
about 7am. Several cups of coffee later we boarded and off we flew.
I kept checking to make sure that I had not forgot anything. The
flight was fantastic I really enjoyed it, I was fortunate enough
to be seated beside a very pleasant person from New York, who was
visiting family in Co.Cavan. We landed in Boston airport to be greeted
by two members of Genesis clubhouse, which is a clubhouse training
base in Worchester, Massachusetts.
The
welcome we received was second to none. We travelled to Worchester
to begin our three week training course in the clubhouse model.
The highlight of the trip for me was the rally we attended at the
State House in Boston. People from all the different clubhouses
and other psych services turned out to oppose the withdrawel of
12 million dollars from the Mental Health budget. The end result
to the rally was that only 6 million would be taken which was a
good result, even if not the best one, but this showed to me the
power people have when they stand together. The training was very
benificial to me and the people I met on the trip were the best.
The hospitality shown to us by all was overwhelming. I would like
to express my sincere gratitude to all who were on the course and
Genesis clubhouse staff/members, especialy Corice and Paul who were
always on call if needed.
A
special thanks goes to staff/members of Platinum clubhouse for their
support. Without their support this would not of been possible,
I would probably never of even bought a passport. I arrived home
on the 14th of December. Now I'm waiting for the opportunity to
return again.

Outings in December/January
CHRISTMAS PARTY
December 12th it all began. We boarded the bus at
7.30pm and then the craic began. We arrived at Toughers, where the
function (party!) was held and we all descended from the bus. We
handed our tickets to Angela. We were then greeted, surprisingly,
by 2 Elvis impersonators, who made absolutely everyone feel welcome.
Dinner was served, which consisted of the traditional Turkey & Ham
and there was a vegetarian dish for those who don't eat meat.
Then at about 9.30pm the REAL party started.
Louise,
who is a Karaoke entertainer, began doing her thing. Once one got
on the floor, it was not long before the floor was full. The 2 Elvis'
mingled amongst the crowd. There was craic go lore. There was also
a raffle which was highly successful.
There
were spot prizes then for various winners of games, which were co-ordinated
by the Elvis impersonators. It was great fun (even I won a prize
for making the best dog out of a balloon!). There were other various
fun and games. We all had a few drinks, whether alcoholic or not.
It was a most enjoyable night for everybody. The night ended at
12am and we all headed home for a well earned night's sleep.
Cathy.
Catering
News
December
was a very busy month in the catering area. We invited a number of
people to our Mulled Wine morning, which was a great success. We also
had our annual Christmas dinner for all the members and staff of the
Clubhouse. A number of staff and members completed the Food Hygiene
course before Christmas and the exam for this course will be taking
place very soon. For the month of January, we have a new temporary
member of staff who is trained within the catering area. So we are
expecting great things from her.

Manchester united won the championship
Manchester
united won the championship When Manchester United won the treble
I was in the pub, where else to be when a Manchester United match
is being played. In the pub with your best mates nothing could be
better. I was watching the match, B.M.F.C versus Manchester United
F.C. It started of slow, well the first five minutes were very slow
but then B.M.F.C showed a spark of class and started passing like
a world-class team.
Then again you can never put down Manchester United. To make a long
story short, in about the last ten minutes after B.M F.C scored the
goal, which put me down in a hole, Manchester United put on the pressure.
In extra time Manchester United got a corner. Who else to take it
than David Beckham? He curled in the corner, it was headed out right
in front of Ryan Gigg's foot. He volleyed it and all Teddy had to
do was turn and tap it in, and that is what he did. The score was
now 1-1.
I turned to drink my pint and all off a sudden they had another corner.
David Beckham was to take it again, so he curled it in. Roy Keane
clipped it in, Ole Gunner just lifted up his foot and in it went into
the back of the net. I just sat there taking in deep breaths, then
it just hit me we won the European Championship.
