A Message from the Co. Kildare Anti-War Group

The invasion and continuing occupation of Iraq are illegal and barbaric acts. As an Irish citizen, you are associated with these atrocities through the actions of our Government. On your behalf, the Government supports the war, despite the lack of a UN resolution. This support is demonstrated through the use of Shannon as a military air base.

On 15th February 2003, over 100,000 people marched against this war. Our voices were ignored and dismissed. When casting your vote on June 11th, please consider withholding your vote from parties who allow the use of Shannon airport by the US Military.

PEACE WALK - SATURDAY 19TH JUNE 04, NEWBRIDGE

On Saturday 19th June, the Co. Kildare Anti-War Group is organising a Peace Walk in Newbridge. The aim of this Walk is twofold:

  • to voice our opposition to the visit of George Bush;

  • to commemorate and pay tribute to our friend and group member, Dr. Anne Behan, who died on 1st February 2004.

The Peace Walk will commence at 1 p.m. on Saturday 19th June (at the green area between Dunnes Stores and Tesco) in Newbridge. There will be a silent procession through the town, where we will gather at the Riverbank Arts Centre for some music and some very brief speeches. Please bring a white flag to show your support for peace.
