Alcohol
-
Short-term effects:
Small amounts usually make people relax.
-
Long-term effects:
-
Long-term heavy use leads to physical dependence and
tolerance (needing more to get the same effect). Long-term
use can also damage the liver, heart, stomach and brain.
-
Safer use:
Avoid mixing alcohol with other drugs and allow yourself
two or three days a week. Take care of where you drink
and who you are with (if you weren't drinking, would you
be with these people?). Like all drugs, you have to use
your head before you start it - not when you are on it.
-
Legal status:
Legal once you are over 18 years of age.
