Easter 2013 - Mullaghmore
The weather forecast is giving South Easterly force 4-5 winds for Sligo this weekend which should make diving Mullaghmore possible. With air temperatures remaining very low I don't think John's Point will be a dive site option but Thumb Rock and the Gulley's should get well investigated.
St. Patrick's Weekend 2013, Slade Harbour, Wexford.
The winds did subside,we did get plenty of great diving and with great team work from all that travelled the weekend ran like clock work and what craic we all had :-) Many thanks to everyone for their co-operation, helping out with running the weekends diving. 76 x dives were completed by the club members over the three days. The Gulley supplied loads of life with even a Red Scorpian fish making an appearance.
The much anticipathed launch of Naas 4 with the new twin Yamaha 115hp four stroke engines happened on Saturday morning and after a short test run down to Hook Head and back to Slade Harbour it was obvious they were an excelent purchase for the club. They transformed the 7.3m Gemini RIB, giving it incredible power, economy and reliability. Well done to all the club members who took part it the fitting out.
Jonathan Dooley & Robbie Carroll, two of this years new members got their CMAS D*, having completed their first 5 x dives with the club. Congratulations and well done lads! :-)

New Club Diver
Congratulations and well done to David Berney who passed his D** (CMAS Club Diver) test in Dun Laoghaire last night in all but favourable conditions. The 1m viz conditions did not faze the well experienced trainee who put in a great performance and passed the test with ease. This is a great testament to someone who only started diving over a year ago and hopefully a budding instructor for the club in the future.
June Bank Holiday Weekend - Kilkee.
Kilkee provided almost all the ideal conditions for excellent diving on the June Bank holiday weekend. For those lucky enough to get down early the weekend kicked off with a dive on the Pinnacle on Friday evening. With brilliant sunshine and jewel anemone covered sheer walls the Pinnacle was a spectacular dive to kick off the weekend. Some even broke that 40m limit for the first time in their diving career. The easterly winds provided calm seas all weekend which made the rain acceptable on the Sunday. All the hot spots got dived : The Pinnacle, Middle Rock, Outer Rock, Diamond Rocks & Birthy More were dived with each dive site better than the last. 15Mt+ visibility was common making dives to 40mt seem like tropical dives if only the water was a little warmer!
We finished up with a 40 minute dive on Birthy More on Monday morning & what a finish to an excellent weekends diving that was with even a Crayfish making a guest appearance.

May Bank Holiday Weekend - May 5th -7th
The weather was kind to us in Valentia Is. for the May Bank Holiday weekend while the east coast got battered with easterly winds. We got five excellent dives with visability up to 15+ meters on some dives. Diving out of Portmagee on the Saturday we got two great dives on the jewel anemone covered wall on Coosdermoda. On the Sunday we dived the spectacular Illaun na Iasc (Island of the fish) which certainly lived up to it's name and the Basalt Cliffs on the westerly side of Beginish Is.in the afternoon. Monday we had to return to sneak one last dive from the ever changing weather on Illaun na Iasc before heading home. A most enjoyable weekend was had by all!
Easter Bank Holiday - Kilkiernan Bay
Despite the enormous spring tides with a range of 5.2m range we managed to get 4 x boat dives over the weekend, finishing up with a relaxing shore dive on Coral Beach on Monday morning. It was a babtisimal of fire for some of the new trainees but the instructors were well impressed by their determination and how well the coped with the difficult conditions.
