John McKenna and Lucy Cullen who have expressed an interest in joining the Naas Sub-Aqua club took up our invitation to join us on the midweek evening boat dive to see us in action!  😆

Eddie Selfie

The best way to end a midweek dive is always exaggerating about the size of that lobster while eating and hanging out in Eddie’s! :-)

Naas4 24-6-2015 wrWith visibility improving all the time the Wednesday evening dives are a great way to spend an evening midweek. The water temperatures are starting to rise and marine life is getting more plentiful with even some very patient octopus appearing on dives off the south side of Dalkey Island.

Hook Species

One of the most common questions we are asked as divers is “What can you see down there?” Without a doubt one of our favourite shore diving sites is Hook Head which has an abundance of sea life to observe. Along with some of the more common fish such as cod, pollock, ballon and cuckoo wrasse, dog fish and mackerel you can also see species as shown below which were all photographed over a single weekend just under the Hook Light House. Scubathon 2015 – 24 Hour Scuba Diving

Scubathon Update: The annual Diveathon went ahead despite the inclement weather forecast. Rather than cancel we opted for a condensed version with all dives completed by 9:30pm Saturday evening, just before the weather broke. There was a great turn out with divers from Naas, Hook and Kilkenny Sub-Aqua Clubs taking part in what was some great diving and craic. Special thanks to Hook SAC for their now famous hospitality. The event kicked off at 11am with Pavel and Michael O’Mahony first […]

Diving Malinbeg, June 2015

Diving Malinbeg the 2015 June bank holiday was something of an uncertainty in the previous week with horrendous weather forecast but having booked accommodation we were travelling and willing to take whatever the prevailing weather allowed. We were therefore pleasantly surprised to get two great dives off Carrigan Head on the Saturday before having to retreat to Malinbeg Bay to dive the stack on the Sunday. It was a relaxing weekends diving and thanks to Paul O’Hare, Aras Ghleann Cholm […]

Saltee Scuba Diving!

Last weekend brought the first real taste of summer and Naas SAC took full advantage of it, diving the Saltee Islands off Kilmore Quay. Sun shine, great visibility and some very inquisitive seal pups made for very interesting dives. We dived the Lennox wreck on the south east side of the Great Saltee and after a relaxing lunch on the Great Saltee we dived the Conningmore Rock in the afternoon.

Mid week Diving

While weather and visibility have not been kind, we are managing to get mid week diving in Dublin Bay. Last evening was our third consecutive mid week dive and it gives us a great opportunity to get dived up and the new members invaluable training and experience. Last night we had the Queen Mary 2 cruise ship in town so we had a good look at her lines prior to the mid week dive.

Diving Castletownbere May 2015

No Image Found!

In the preceding days the 2015 May bank holiday diving was looking very bleak with high winds and monsoon rains forecast but Castletownbere proved a good choice for early season diving. It did not fail to deliver great diving in sheltered dive sites which allowed us to get the full 5 x dives planned for the weekend. Carrigavaddra, Lonehort Pt. and inside Ardnakinna Pt. supplied some great diving in a range of depths to 30m. While sea life may have […]
