While weather and visibility have not been kind, we are managing to get mid week diving in Dublin Bay. Last evening was our third consecutive mid week dive and it gives us a great opportunity to get dived up and the new members invaluable training and experience. Last night we had the Queen Mary 2 cruise ship in town so we had a good look at her lines prior to the mid week dive.
In the preceding days the 2015 May bank holiday diving was looking very bleak with high winds and monsoon rains forecast but Castletownbere proved a good choice for early season diving. It did not fail to deliver great diving in sheltered dive sites which allowed us to get the full 5 x dives planned for the weekend. Carrigavaddra, Lonehort Pt. and inside Ardnakinna Pt. supplied some great diving in a range of depths to 30m. While sea life may have been sparse at times there was species such as Monkfish, Ballon Wrasse and Conger Eels spotted. We headed out with a full boat of divers each morning and safely completed 65 x dives over the weekend. A very enjoyable weekends scuba diving
