Date Sent: 03/12/1999, 07:26 am
Greetings from Kildare, And welcome to all our new subscribers. This is
a short message to inform you of developments in the County Kildare Community
Network:
We have recently updated the Kildare Business Directory
Website. This is developing into a comprehensive directory of County Kildare
businesses.
The address is as follows: http://kildare.ie/business
A listing on the directory is free, and may be obtained by filling in
the form at this address: http://kildare.ie/business/addyour.htm
If you already have a website, then your name as listed in the directory
can be linked to your site for a very small fee.
For details on prices for Website development and hosting on the Kildare
Community Network, visit the following page: http://kildare.ie/business/apply.htm
The environment section of the Network was selected as one of Ireland's
top ten sites for the month of February by Ireland-On-Line.
It was also awarded four shamrocks on the Doras Directory.
This site was designed by Kevin Kelly, one of our web designers, based
in Kildare County Council
The County Council Website continues to develop and already contains a
wealth of information. It updates at the end of each week the latest information
coming out from the Council and has a newsflash section for urgent communications.
This proved useful last Friday when the car tax offices were closed due
to flooding! The site can be accessed at: http://kildare.ie/CountyCouncil
Don't forget to check in regularly to our local news service, KNN, recently
featured on RTE TV's Nationwide programme. Get all the latest Kildare
news at: http://kildare.ie/KNN
Our towns section continues to develop. On March 22nd Athy-on-line, the
website for the town of Athy, will be launched. This site has been put
together by a local committee set up by the Athy Investment Development
Forum in conjunction with the UDC. Our Network has provided the technical
support and designed some of the pages.
Community groups and individuals are now beginning to use another new
section of the Network, the Community Notice Board. Here people can flag
events occurring in the towns and communities of Kildare, from pub quizzes
to dance and drama. It can be accessed at http://kildare.ie/NoticeBoard
Another new section to be launched imminently is the Kildare Interview.
Here we will feature interviews with people in the news or active in their
communities. Our first interview is with Sr. Mary Minehan about St Brigid,
the patron of Kildare, whose festival was celebrated in February. As always,
we are happy to receive comments and suggestions for inclusion of information
in both this Newsletter and in the pages of the Co. Kildare Community
Network.
