A comprehensive and fully referenced account of the cultures of medieval architectural endeavour in Ireland

Thursday 10 September 2015 @ 7.00 p.m.
John Paul II Library, South Campus Maynooth University, Co. Kildare

Medieval Irish buildings, 1100–1600.

Tadhg O’Keeffe.

The Irish landscape is dotted with thousands of medieval buildings, most of them in ruins. They are an invaluable resource, individually and collectively, for making sense of medieval Ireland and its people, provided one knows how to read the evidence of their architecture. This book helps the reader make full use of that evidence. It presents a comprehensive and fully referenced account of the cultures of medieval architectural endeavour in Ireland, and describes and explains in detail the types of medieval building that survive. It is replete with photographs, plans and elevation drawings.
This is a volume in the Maynooth Research Guides for Irish Local History.
Tadhg O’Keeffe is a professor in the School of Archaeology at University College Dublin and is the author of many essays and books, including Romanesque Ireland (2003).
Paperback. 312 pages. Summer 2015
