Call for Expressions of Interest by Community Reps to Historic Monuments Advisory Committee

Kildare County Council is seeking Expressions of Interest for the nomination of community representatives to the Historic Monuments Advisory Committee 2015-2019.

The committee is involved with the protection and conservation of Historic Monuments in the care or ownership of Kildare County Council. The work programme feeds into conservation work undertaken by Kildare County Council and is subject to funding being made available at national and local level.

A small budget is allocated each year to carry out works to Historic Monuments by Kildare County Council and the committee agree the annual work programme within the budget.

The committee is typically composed of 7 community representatives, 2 elected members, and technical and administrative support from Kildare County Council staff. The Committee report to the Economic Development, Enterprise and Planning Strategic Policy Committee of the county council.

Community representatives contribute to community collaboration, local research, fundraising and other assistance to the committee. Nominees should have an interest in or some practical experience or knowledge of historic monuments, architecture or archaeology in their area and should be able to demonstrate how their contributions might help the work of the committee.

All nominations will be proposed and adopted by full Council.
