Irish Drift Championship ROUND 1 This Weekend

Irish Drift Championship ROUND 1 This Weekend

Irish stars face Australian, UAE and Spanish Champions.

The new Irish Drift Championship season kicks off at Mondello Park with a bang as the best of Ireland's International stars go up against three top international drivers.

Leading the invasion will be Australian Drift Champ Luke Fink. Fink will drive the insane LBD V8 Odyvia as he becomes the latest overseas star to try and beat the Irish on home soil.

Going up against the Aussie will be Ireland's best including reigning champion Duane McKeever, James Dean and Jack Shanahan who is fresh from his win at the opening round of the British Drift Championship last weekend. All of the Irish scenes top names will be on the entry list and they will be joined by UAE Champion, Ahmad Daham and Spaniard Lluis Lopez who is back at Modified Live for another attempt at beating the Irish.

The IDC event will take place over two days with Semi-Pro competition and Pro Practice on Saturday and the main event for the Pro Drivers and qualifiers from Semi Pro on Sunday.

Look out for some changes to the format which will see more side by side battling than in previous years as sudden death qualifying is introduced. The new system will see just eight of the places in the top sixteen run-off being decided by single car qualifying with the remaining eight being decided by sudden death run-off's for the next sixteen qualifiers.

Joining the Drifters in providing on-track entertainment will be the Irish Touring Car Championship fresh from a starring role on Mondello.TV's recent Car Racing coverage, see HERE. The ITCC drivers will have a single qualifying session and one race.
