Have a Scatterpillar Christmas!

Kildare Woman Jacinta Leigh's Scatterpillar Designs

Textile designer Jacinta Leigh from Kildare Town is the creative force behind Scatterpillar Designs.  The name Scatterpillar Designs came about one day in her garden. Her children had never seen caterpillars before and her son said: “Look mum, a scatterpillar”.  Jacinta began using her children's drawings to create soft sculptural characters called softies. She also takes   commissions. People can send their drawings to Scatterpillar Designs and she will create a softie, cushion or embroidery on canvas for them.

Each softie is very unique and handmade. They can be personalised with the child’s name and their treasured clothes can be incorporated into the design. It is a beautiful way of holding onto childhood memories. Jacinta also has created a retail range produced from her own childrens’ drawings.

Scatterpillar is taking commissions for Christmas gifts presently and orders received by Wednesday 3rd of December will be ready in time for Christmas. Visit www.scatterpillardesigns.ie for more information.

Jacinta is registered with The Design and Crafts Council of Ireland and was selected for the Creative Ireland Showcase in January 2014. She will be exhibiting again in 2015.

Scatterpillar Designs' “The Angry Eyeball” was featured on The Late Late Toy Show last year.  For more information visit www.scatterpillardesigns.ie, like on Facebook.com/ScatterpillarDesigns and follow on Twitter @scatterpillar1
