Successful Adelaide Masters Series season sees further growth

Increase in entry levels across all classes

Ireland's biggest short circuit Motorcycle Racing Championship, the Adelaide Masters Series, continued to build its profile and reputation during 2014, with increased TV exposure and growing entry levels across all classes.

The Adelaide Motorbike Insurance backed series, which runs at Mondello Park and Bishopscourt, completed its fourth season with an increase in entries of more than 8% compared to 2013. Entry levels across the main Superbike and Supersport classes continued to be strong, with cost cutting measures introduced at the start of 2014 leading to these classes increasing their competitor numbers by more than 6%.

Demonstrating the increased competitiveness of the series 17 more riders scored points during 2014 than last season with seven of the eleven championship battles finishing closer than in 2013. The 'Cup' classes, which are contested by newcomers and less experienced riders within the Superbike and Supersport races, continued to produce some of the closest battles. Both championships went down to the final day of the season, unlike in 2013 where they were both settled with three rounds to spare.

The increase in entry levels across all classes can be attributed to the efforts of series sponsors Adelaide Motorbike Insurance, Irish Ferries, Safety Direct and Megabikes, along with the circuits, Mondello Park and Bishopscourt, in supporting and promoting the series and offering a high profile and cost effective platform for Irish Motorcycle racers.

Increased television coverage which saw all classes broadcast for the first time through Mondello Park's live streaming TV channel Mondello.TV, along with cost cutting measures in the more expensive Superbike and Supersport classes, and an increased prize fund, have all helped to keep the Adelaide Masters Series in the spotlight as it looks forward to growing further in 2015.
