Events and Projects
Monasterevin Historical Society is dedicated to preserving and promoting the history and heritage of Monasterevin. Knowledge of a common history and heritage is essential in fostering a shared sense of identity, community and place. MHS carries out its mission by:
- Investigating the built, written, oral, cultural and other forms of history and heritage around us.
- Disseminating the knowledge we come across to as wide an audience as possible.
- Facilitating a yearly series of public lectures by speakers on a wide variety of history and heritage related subjects.
- Mounting exhibitions and short-term museum displays.
- Providing a forum for debate on local history and heritage.
- Sponsoring commemorative projects.
- Providing a resource of materials, people and contacts to those inquiring about local history.
