Monasterevin Historical Society was founded in 2003 and is dedicated to preserving and promoting the history and heritage of Monasterevin. Knowledge of a common history and heritage is essential in fostering a shared sense of identity, community and place. MHS carries out its mission by:

  • Investigating the built, written, oral, cultural and other forms of history and heritage around us.
  • Disseminating the knowledge we come across to as wide an audience as possible.
  • Facilitating a yearly series of public lectures by speakers on a wide variety of history and heritage related subjects.
  • Mounting exhibitions and short-term museum displays.
  • Providing a forum for debate on local history and heritage.
  • Sponsoring commemorative projects.
  • Providing a resource of materials, people and contacts to those inquiring about local history.
Membership is open to anyone with an interest in history and is free. If you think you have something to contribute contact us at monhistsoc@eircom.net see our own website on www.kildare.ie/monasterevin-historical-society or drop into one of our meeting in the historic Council Hall on Main Street Monasterevin which take place on the third Thursday of each month.
