Return of Poor Law Guardians (Naas & Celbridge) - March 30th, 1839
Page 4 Column c
In every county in Ireland, where Guardians have as yet been elected, we perceive the "Return of the Returning Officer" has been published in some county newspaper with the exception of Kildare. The Guardians for the unions of Naas and Celbridge have been elected and as yet, no return has been published. Surely the Leinster Express is not of such little notoriety as that, even the Poor Law Commission may not have heard of such a newspaper, - or can it be that the priests have in this particular also, exercised that influence which has been so prominent in the other details by which the new Act is being brought into operation? - We would be induced to hope otherwise from the character and intelligence which distinguish the learned gentleman who explained the objects and the Act, some time since in Naas.
