Launch of History Talks CD

Kildare Education Centre, Kildare Town.

Tuesday 11th Dec 2007 at 7.00pm.


 The CD was launched by Mae Leonard, poet, writer and broadcaster

The County Kildare Federation of Local History Groups officially launched the recently produced CD containing a series of five talks on local history written by members of the Federation and narrated by Mae Leonard on KFM radio. The CD was produced by the combined efforts of the Kildare Education Centre, KFM Radio and the County Kildare Federation of Local History Groups. The CD will be used in conjunction with the written texts and specially prepared work sheets to help teachers and students with the study of local history aspects of the Leaving Certificate history paper.

Brian McCabe Vice Chairman of the Federation officiated on the night. Anne McNeill who originally came up with the idea added to Brian's praise for all concerned and for the project in general. Dolores Hamill of the Kildare Education Centre likewise paid tribute to those who had made the CD possible and emphaised the importance of the project for schools and students in light of changes to the curriculum. The CD was then launched by Mae Leonard who treated the audience to some of her own Chistmas memories encouraging all to raise an imaginary glass of champagne to toast the launch.
