IBAL Results for Leixlip - 2006 Rd. 2

Leixlip IBAL Results, November 2006:

There has been a slight improvement at Leixlip since it was surveyed earlier in the year.  There were two excellent sites this time around – there were none the last time.  St. Charles Confey Junior School (Inside) and Leixlip Railway Station (Inside) were not only clear of litter but both were very well maintained.  The remainder of the sites surveyed in Leixlip were moderately littered.  The majority of them could easily be improved with just a little extra effort e.g. the residential areas, St. Charles Confey Junior School (Outside) and Captain’s Hill.

Kilcock Approach Road:  Moderately Littered.  This very busy approach road had small amounts of a wide variety of litter scattered throughout.  If the grass verges were cut back it may help the litter situation.

St. Charles Confey Junior School – Outside:  Moderately Littered.   A quick clean-up would solve the small litter situation – the installation of Litter Awareness notices may draw the students’ attention.

St. Charles Confey Junior School – Inside:  Clean to European Norms.  The grounds of the school are well presented and attractively landscaped.  Despite a very full car park the area was clear of all litter and the grounds were in very good condition.

Leixlip Railway Station – Outside:  Moderately Littered.  There has been a big improvement since this site was surveyed earlier in the year – it had been in a dreadful state.  However, there was still some persistent litter throughout, all of it food related.

Leixlip Railway Station – Inside:  Clean to European Norms.  This was an excellent site.  It was clean, tidy and well maintained – a credit to the station staff.

Main Street:  Moderately Littered.  This site could be so attractive but is let down by dirty litter bins and scatterings of a wide variety of litter.  A stone mason was at work on one of the buildings at time of litter survey.

Rockingham:  Moderately Littered.  Very little effort is required to make this a cleaner site – a quick clean-up would address it.  There has been little change here since it was last surveyed.

Oaklawn West:  Moderately Littered.  As with the previous site, a little more attention could make all the difference here.  The fence / grass area could be improved with some extra maintenance.

Captain’s Hill:  Moderately Littered.  The overall impression at this site is of an attractive, unspoilt street.  Food related litter took away from an otherwise very good site and some of the bins were dirty.

Salmon Leap Bridge River Bank:  Moderately Littered.  When this was last surveyed earlier in the year it was a serious litter problem.  There has been a change for the better.  Yet, there was still a wide variety of litter on the inside wall on the left as one approaches the Bridge from Dublin .

Stolen Spring Bulbs

On the 25th of November 2006 LLRA had a substantial amount of spring bulbs stolen

Stolen Spring Bulbs

On the 25th of November 2006 we had a substantial amount of spring bulbs stolen. They were intended for the New GAA/Easton Road flowerbed and were taken directly outside the pitch entrance. A middle aged man was seen loading the yellow bag conntaing the bulbs together with some bottled water we had for refreshments, into a silver car. The incident occured whilst the volunteers were taking a brief break. If you have any information on this incident, please contact any member of LTTA committee.

The Celbridge branch of Aldi who sold us the bulbs kindly supplied us with replacements at a substantial discount when they heard of our plight.
