As already stated, the primary objective of this
report is to identify how the built environment
of Leixlip town centre can be improved, and its
amenity enhanced for residents and visitors alike.
This can be achieved in the following ways:
- Visually improve the main vehicular approaches
to the town;
- Consolidate the town centre and provide a
more cohesive and pleasing streetscape;
- Improve the appearance of buildings by re-painting
and ensure that shop fronts are appropriate
in both scale and materials;
- Continue to upgrade the physical infrastructure
of the town, i.e., public lighting, pavements,
etc;
- Continue to remove all superfluous wiring,
fittings and signs;
- Encourage commercial activity within the town
and promote the occupancy of all vacant premises;
- Develop a riverside walk between the Liffey
Bridge and the Rye Bridge with access points
at both of these bridges, together with access
points from Ralph Square and the Kildare County
Council carpark;
- Develop a riverside amenity park to run along
the rear of buildings located in Main Street
with access points at the bridge at the end
of Ralph Square and behind the Church of Ireland
grounds and at the carpar
