Disbelief and empty streets in the city that never sleeps

The first night after the day of terror in Manhattan.

MANHATTAN, 12 September: by Carl Byrne. The people were just walking around numbly today, not believing what was going on. A friend and I went down to give blood, but were told to come back tomorrow as they had as much as they could take. It's hard not to feel that there simply weren't enough living victims there to need the blood.

This is something terrible. The streets are empty. There's just smoke and dust. And underneath it, something nobody wants to think about.
