Councillor wants workers to work longer

NAAS, 18 July 2002: by Brian Byrne. A lifelong trade unionist who is now a Naas town councillor has demanded that construction workers on a Naas council housing project be told to work longer than they do.

Cllr Pat O’Reilly made the demand during consideration of the Progress Report at this month’s meeting of the council. He said the workers on the project at the Caragh Road are leaving work ‘far too early’ and he wants them to stay on so that there will be no delay on the building work.

Cllr O’Reilly told KNN that he has observed that the workers are ‘gone by 4pm’ which he considers is not good enough when there is such an urgent need for housing in the community.
