Appeal to council in TV row

NAAS, 2 October 2002: Naas Town Council has been asked to intervene in a TV service 'standoff' between residents in the Caragh Road area and the Chorus communications company which serves Naas Town.

The problem results in two recent incidents when high vehicles cut TV cables on the Caragh Road. In the first case, damage was done to chimneys and the company declined to accept responsibility, according to a local resident. Residents since then have been refusing permission to have the line restored as it constitutes a danger.

In the most recent incident, Chorus told one resident that it would require complaints from at least six subscribers before it would send out a repair crew to investigate.

"The entire area is now without a TV service and Chorus refuse to give us a credit note to cover the time we are without service," one aggrieved resident commented to KNN.
