Traffic calming budget cut

12 June: An unforeseen effect of Government cutbacks is that a programme for traffic calming measures throughout the county has been drastically reduced.

While E300,000 was allocated in the county's budget for traffic calming this year, the money available is now only E65,000, and only a small number of the requests for such measures can be accommodated.

Councillors have been told that the E300,000 allocation was dependent on an expected funding tranche of E265,000 from the Dublin Transportation Office, but that money is not now available.
