Naas toastmaster wins divisional competition

NAAS, 5 November 2002: A member of Naas Toastmasters Club will compete in the District Final of the Toastmasters of Ireland and the UK annual competition this weekend in Killarney.

Peter Farrelly of Naas won through to Killarney after delivering a speech entitled ‘Black Cat on a Bright Day’ at the Divisional Final held last Sunday in the Ambassador Hotel in Kill.

The competition, under the Humorous Speech and Table Topics section, was organised by the Naas Toastmasters Club, and involved competitors from clubs in Dungarvan, Waterford, Enniscorthy, Thurles and Mullingar.

The contest chairperson was Eileen Loughman of the Naas club.

“Peter’s achievement was a great boost for the club,” the Naas club’s president Sean O’Gorman said afterwards.

Naas Toastmaster’s Club’s mission is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills which in turn foster self confidence and personal growth. They meet in the Credit Union, Main St, Naas on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 8.15pm. Visitors are always welcome to come to a meeting of the Naas Club to sample the range of Toastmasters skills.
