Kildare County Council proposes taximeter area changes

KILDARE GENERAL, 20 June 2002: by Brian Byrne. Kildare County Council proposes to create taximeter areas within its boundaries and the Transportation Strategic Policy Committee has invited submissions/observations from the public. The proposals include the following:-

1. To extend the current Dublin Taximeter area to an area in North Kildare comprising of the towns of Leixlip, Celbridge, Maynooth and Kilcock.

2. The creation of another taximeter area for the remainder of the County to include the functional areas of Athy and Naas Town Councils, subject to agreement with those authorities.

3. The adoption of a uniform taxi fare structure throughout the entire County (including the extended Dublin Taximeter area) similar to that currently pertaining in the Dublin area.

Documents are available for inspection from Thursday 13th June, 2002 to Thursday, 11th July, 2002 during the hours 9.00am to 1.00pm and 2.00pm to 5.00pm at Kildare County Council offices St Mary’s, Naas, also at Leixlip, Newbridge and Athy Branch Libraries.

Any submissions should be made in writing to Liam Dunne, Senior Executive Officer, at the Council’s Roads Section, St Mary’s, Naas, Co Kildare.
