Calls for estimates provision for north Kildare pool

KILDARE NORTH, 10 October: by Brian Byrne. Kildare County Council has been asked to allocate sufficient funds in the 2002 estimates to provide a swimming pool complex for North Kildare. The request has been made by Cllr John McGinley in the light of the imminent completion of a study to identify the best place to locate such a pool for the north of the county.

The feasibility study resulted from the adoption of a motion by Cllr McGinley (right), and he wants spending on such facilities in Northg Kildare to be brought into line with spending in the mid- and south county areas.

"Two new swiming pool complexes have been approved for Naas and Athy at a cost approaching £10 million, and major expenditure is also taking place at the council's Newbridge Sports Centre," he says in support of his request that Noth Kildare needs such investment.
