Roads allocation benefits Naas, Maynooth

27 January 2004: The Ring Road in Naas and the link road between Maynooth and Barberstown Cross are among likely beneficiaries of some €25.4 million which has been allocated under the non-national roads programme for 2004.

The money is a share of €477 million announced today for the programme nationally and represents €4,610 for every kilometre of non-national road in Ireland.

In the Kildare allocation, Kildare County Council gets over €18 million in a road grant, more than €5.8 million in a restoration and improvement grant, and €1.29 million in a restoration maintenance grant.

Naas Town Council gets €532,000 from the overall funding.

The allocation last year was €22 million.
