Curragh girl jumps to victory

CURRAGH, 17 August 2002: by Bill Trapman. Fourteen-year old Nicola FitzGibbon from the Curragh jumped her way to victory in the 148A Equestrian World Grand Prix at the recent Dublin Horse Show. Nicola won the competition on board eight-year-old 'Miami Bound' at the Kerrygold Dublin Horse Show.

Athy enterprise centre gets funding approval

Athy Development Investment and Employment Forum has been approved a capital grant of 300,000 euros towards the construction costs of a Community Enterprise Centre in Athy and a further 38,000 euros grant towards the cost of employing a manager for the Centre.

Leixlip athlete runs well in Munich

LEIXLIP, 14 August 2002: by Arran Hussey. Leixlip athlete David McCarthy ran the anchor leg for the Irish 4x400 metres relay team at the recent European Championships. McCarthy, and Rob Daly, Paul McKee and Antoine Burke, broke the Irish national record for the event in Munich on Saturday 10 August, to qualify for the final the following day.

Narraghmore Pipe Band wins in World Championships

Naas church celebrates 175th anniversary

The event will be celebrated with a special Mass and ceremony at 7.30pm, and an exhibition of artifacts and memorabilia associated with the church and parish will open afterwards.
