Councillor to retire

07 October 2003: Cllr John O'Neill will end a 30-year involvement with Kildare County Council when the current council is dissolved next June.

This means that the Fianna Fail party headquarters will be asked to nominate two new candidates to contest the next election, to run with sitting councillor Fiona O'Loughlin and Suzanne Doyle, who will soon replace Deputy Sean O Fearghaill on Kildare County Council under the new regulations outlawing the dual mandate.

Three names are already being mentioned for the two places - Cllrs Pat Black and Colm Feeney of Newbridge, and Paddy Slattery of Suncroft.
