Call for new library for Newbridge

NEWBRIDGE, 27 July 2002: by Bill Trapman. The County Kildare Library and Arts Committee is to investigate the possibility of providing improved public library facilities in Newbridge.

At its summer meeting, the committee congratulated the staff in the library for the work they do, but agreed to look towards the provision of a better premises. One suggestion is that a new library be incorporated in the proposed new retail complex at Cutlery Road.

Committee chairman Cllr Pat Black has called on all public representatives to support the project, saying that with the growth of population in Newbridge there is a need for a state-of-the-art modern library with public internet and computers and dedicated study and research areas.

He said the development at Cutlery Road (below) would be 'an ideal venue' from a parking point of view, and it would be a point of easy access for all the citizens of Newbridge.
