More encouragement for women in business

KILDARE GENERAL, 2 October 2002: More Irish women can be encouraged to 'seize the opportunity' to start their own business, finance minister Charlie McCreevy told the annual charity business dinner of the Kildare branch of Network Ireland at the Red House recently.

As guest speaker, he outlined a number of measures taken by the Government in recent years to encourage such activity, including the widening of the standard rate tax band and its placement on a 'per-person basis.

He also complimented the Kildare County Enterprise Board for being the first such agency to impliment a dedicated 'women in Business' initiative.

The Kildare branch of Network, an organisation dedicated to helping women in business to improve communications between themselves, was established four years ago.
