Resolutions not implemented

NAAS, 5 January 2002: by Trish Whelan. Around 100 resolutions passed by Naas UDC in recent years have not yet been implemented, according to Cllr Pat McCarthy (left) who has asked for money to be made available in each year's Book of Estimates to ensure the jobs are done.

UDC officials said where motions are passed, ‘every effort should be made to include them in the next year’s estimates’.

Pat McCarthy was aware that a lot of projects are competing for funds and there is not always enough money to do what they would like to do. However, he said, quite a few motions passed tend to be forgotten.

Referring to the junction at Ashgrove estate on the Dublin Road he said if Kildare County Council is unable to come up with a resolution to the problem, then the UDC should look into it instead.

Cllr Anthony Egan advocated that the sum of £10,000 be afforded to each council to see the jobs done. He is to put the idea officially to the council.

Officials said many of the motions passed are policy issues.
