10th Naas easter Parade

NAAS, 1 April 2002: by Brian Byrne. Superquinn was the overall winner in the 10th Naas Easter Parade, held yesterday afternoon under skies that threatened but failed to actually rain on the event.

In the Large Business section, the Punchestown Racecourse presentation won its class, while Sullivan Carpets took the honours in the Small Business category.

Naas Town Council took the Industry section prize, and Kildare Youth Services won in the Clubs category. The O’Gormans Steam Traction Engine won the Vintage section.

A special presentation was made to the leader of the Prison Officers Band, which has been taking part in the parade since its inception.

Other groups which took part in the event included the Special Olympics Committee, Naas Rugby Club, the No Name Club, the Moat Club, Naas Scouts and Naas Figure Dancers. The parade was significant for the number of children taking part.
