Public reps object to apartments

MAYNOOTH, 2 January 2002: by Bill Trapman. An objection has been lodged with An Bord Pleanala by two local representatives, in support of Kildare County Council’s rejection of a proposed 90-apartments development at Parson St, Maynooth.

The objection against an appeal by Leatron Ltd was made by Deputy Emmet Stagg and Cllr John McGinley. They say that the developer’s push for a high-density development had led them to propose an unacceptable 3-storey project in a historically sensitive area.

Deputy Stagg also said the development would have a ‘detrimental effect’ on the canal and adhacent 2-storey residential developments.
