Flood works pleas from councillors

LEIXLIP 13 January 2003: A number of motions relating to flooding in Leixlip are on the agenda for the next Leixlip Area Meeting of the Kildare County Council.

Cllr John McGinley is calling for the council to put in place an additional 3-foot embankment between the Rye River and the green area in Dun Carraig Estate, to contain the river in the area.

And in adjourned motions, Cllr Senan Griffin (left) is asking the council to investigate the possibilities of dredging the Rye River in order to combat flooding in the area and at Confey College.

In another adjourned motion, Cllr Paul Kelly (right) has called for urgent drainage work to be carried out in Confey Cemetary, to prevent further flooding there.
