Leixlip CU goes online for loans, accounts status

LEIXLIP, 9 October 2002: Leixlip & District Credit Union has officially launched its new website which will allow members to view their own accounts and apply for loans online.

The www.leixlipcu.ie site has been created by Integrity Software, which in 1999 set up a Credit Union Web Site Development division aimed at providing eCommerce facilities for credit unions in Ireland and the UK.

Town Council chairman Colm Purcell, who is a director of the Credit Union, said he was delighted to launch the new service. "The credit union has been a vibrant part of Leixlip for over 30 years now. It is owned by the members and the website will make it easier for them to deal with the credit union and its staff."

Cllr Purcell urged young people, in particular, to use the credit union and its services. "It is a wonderful way to learn thrift from an early age," he said.

Noel Duggan, chairman, Leixlip & District Credit Union, said the website will give Leixlip’s 6,500 members and opportunity to monitor their own accounts and transactions but also check out services provided by the Union and calculate loan payment amounts.

The site is divided into two sections: one for general visitors and the other for members only.

The key feature of the visitors section is provide information on the credit union, the rules and regulations of joining, details of opening hours and community news. It also includes links to the Irish League of Credit Unions site at www.ilcu.ie

The member only section is the key feature of the site. Members will, on request, be provided with their own confidential PIN number and using this, their account number and birth date, can get access to their own account details.

Fergal Walsh of Integrity said members will be able to view their up to date share and loan balances and previous twelve transactions.
An on-line loan application can be made. Members can use the online calculator, which will request the required loan amount, add it to any outstanding loan and calculate the required repayment amount. Users can choose weekly, fortnightly and monthly repayments terms.

Other facilities such as membership applications, nomination forms are available online or can be downloaded and printed on one’s home printer.
Integrity’s software, CU@HOME, is now operational in over 40 credit unions.
