Hospital workers still using Lakelands

NAAS 16 January 2003: Although car park spaces have been in place for Naas Hospital staff since last year, workers in the hospital are still using Lakelands for all day parking, despite the fact that Naas Town Council has placed 'Residents Only' signs throughout the estate.

On a recent observation, some 50 per cent of the cars parked on the estate's outer road had 'car pass' stickers on their windscreens, issued by the security department at Naas Hospital.

The stickers do not have any indication that they are issued by the hospital, but they do have serial numbers, and KNN has received confirmation that they are in fact Naas Hospital passes.

The matter of Lakelands being used as a car park for hospital workers and visitors to the hospital provoked angry reaction over the last two years, and was the subject on much - sometimes heated - discussion at Naas UDC/Town Council.

There have also been complaints that a number of rented houses in the estate are being used as offices by the South Eastern Health Board, without planning permission.
