Residents will oppose UDC parking plan

NAAS: 26 April 2001: by Trish Whelan. The residents of Lakelands are set to ‘vigorously oppose’ Naas UDC’s proposals to provide car parking spaces along the estate side of the Craddockstown Road, unless double yellow lines are provided at the entrance to Lakelands and along a block of homes where hospital and construction workers are currently parking their cars.

In a letter to the UDC, the residents also say they want a 3ft wall erected to prevent inconsiderate parkers from driving across the grass divide to park in their estate.

Their verbal request at a recent meeting of Naas UDC for a wall was turned down as being an unnecessary expense for something seen as a ‘temporary’ solution to the problem. The letter is their official response to a challenge from UDC chairman Cllr Pat O’Reilly that they should ‘come up with a proposal of their own if they didn’t agree with what the UDC proposed’.

Last week, councillors noted the letter as ‘read’ and deferred discussion to another meeting.
