Lakelands to get 'Residents Only' parking

NAAS, 4 May 2002: by Trish Whelan. ‘Residents Only’ car parking is to be established in Lakelands in a bid to prevent parking by staff and construction workers of Naas General Hospital in the estate. Naas Parking Bye-Laws are to be amended to allow this.

Town engineer John McGowan said next month will see another 120 car parking spaces available in the car park and the Hospital Management will organise a leaflet campaign to persuade up to 250 staff cars and construction workers to use Ballycane Church car park.

Town clerk Declan Kirrane said it would be unfair to the people of Lakelands to expect them to put up with this type of disruption until 2006.

Cllr Pat McCarthy said it was now time for a review of the Parking Bye-Laws in regard to all estates. He said people were not using Ballycane because they were worried over security for their cars. But Mayor Willie Callaghan said he didn’t see why anybody would have any qualms or fears about leaving their cars in Ballycane.
