Refurbished Youth Information Centre opened

NAAS, 11 April 2002: by Brian Byrne. The refurbished Naas Youth & Community Information Centre was officially opened today. The new look Information Centre now offers Public Internet Access on two computers, a completely new service for the Centre and available for a small charge of 2 euros per half hour.

As part of the opening today, internet access was free all day today on a first come first served basis.

The opening included the unveiling of the winners in the Naas Youth & Community Information Centre Art Competition as well as a lunch time theatre performance presented by the students of St Mary's and the CBS.

"There was a great response to the Art Competition and we were really pleased with the quality of work that came through," said Gillian McClutcheon of the KYS. The competition was overseen by Kildare County Arts Officer Lucina Russel.

The Naas Youth & Community Information Centre offers a free, confidential information service for young people and the community, covering issues ranging from health and money matters to travel, education and sport. The new look centre is modern, bright and accessible and also features a newly installed database which facilitates retrieval of material enabling queries to be dealt with in a timely and efficient manner.

While staff are available to assist with queries, people are free to browse and seek information unaided. The Information Centre is a project of Kildare Youth Services. For further information contact 045-897893.
