Networking seminars for tourism operators

30 December 2003: Seminars on networking are being offered by County Kildare Failte in January for people working in the tourism business in the county.

The events will take place in Allenwood, Kill and Ballitore, and will include addresses from representatives of county tourism companies which have successfully implemented netowrking schemes.

These include Meath Tourism, Wicklow Tourism and Carlow Tourism.

"A successful local network will then briefly outline its initiative," says Eilish Rafferty of CKF. "This will hopefully provide inspiration for others in the county to get networking."

Eilish notes that a frequent comment from the Kildare tourism trade is that there is a lack of collaboration amongst individual operators. "Most visitors rely heavily on the information they get from the people on the ground: their B&B landlady, the hotel receptionist, the car hire salesperson, the restrateur. While the importance of networking is widely recognised, we lack the information and the structures to set up the relationships."

Each seminar will begin at 8pm, on 6 January in the Allenwood Enterprise Centre, on 7 January in the Ambassador Hotel, Kill, and on 8 January in the Shaker Store in Ballitore.
