'Decisions made' to rectify development control crisis

KILDARE GENERAL, 12 June 2002: by Brian Byrne. Kildare County Council has ‘taken decisions’ to rectify a serious problem in the Development Control Section, which has been without any staff since March of 2001.

Responding to representations made by Deputy Emmet Stagg at last Monday’s meeting of the council, director of services Charlie Talbot (right) said a full report will be presented to the next meeting of the council on June 24.

Deputy Stagg said that there were numerous housing estates in the county which were completed but no effort had been made to take them in charge. “Meantime, developers are applying to the council for permission to build in designated open spaces, and some have been successful,” he said.
