Kavanagh puts her name forward in Kildare

07 April 2003: The early moves in local elections campaigns are getting under way in many parts of the county, with a number of candidates getting ready for nomination meetings or already selected.

The most recent to throw her hat in the ring is Mary Kavanagh of Kildare, who has been put forward by the annual meeting of the local Labour Party branch.

Her nomination has yet to be ratified at the next level of the party hierarchy, but with the pending retirement of Cllr Jim Keane, the town will be anxious to keep the current seat in the area.
