Walsh appointed to NESF

21 January 2004: Progressive Democrats Senator Kate Walsh, Progressive Democrats Spokesperson on Social and Family Affairs, has been appointed to the National Economic and Social Forum (NESF) by the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern TD.

Senator Walsh described her nomination as a 'tremendous honour' and says she is very much looking forward to the challenge ahead."I am delighted to have been nominated by the Taoiseach and I am determined to play a very active role within the forum."

The role of the NESF is to monitor and analyse the implementation of specific measures and programmes identified in the context of social partnership arrangements, especially those concerned with the achievement of equality and social inclusion.
