Residents will fight road plan 'tooth and nail'

NAAS, 4 July 2002: by Trish Whelan. Residents of Jigginstown Park are to fight ‘tooth and nail’ plans to run the Naas inner relief road through their estate. Plans for the new route are due to go on public display shortly following their presentation to Naas councillors recently.

The issue was raised at the recent AGM of Jigginstown Residents Assoc when the residents vowed to oppose the road ‘at all costs’. They say there are 'clearer and safer alternatives' and a more realistic route would be to have the new road coming across the canal near Chadwicks to meet up with the proposed link from the Kilcullen Road which joins the Newbridge Road between Chadwick’s and Jigginstown Castle.

The residents are seeking support from other Residents Associations in their opposition to the planned route which involves a new bridge across the canal from the estate, to link up with Millennium Park and the Sallins Road.
