Money for elderly aid

29 January 2004: Elderly people in Kildare could benefit from a €1.6 million allocation to the Eastern regional Health Authority under the Special Housing Aid for the Elderly Scheme.

The money goes to fund emergency improvement works in the homes of elderly people living at home alone, or in unfit or insanitary accommodation.

The €1.6 million is described as an 'initial' tranche of funding for the scheme.
